Integrating time from experience
in lateral entorhinal cortex.

Poster for Albert Tsao’s research on how time becomes represented in one's memories. How do you have a sense of both when some episode in life happened, as well as how long the episode lasted for.

“Sight, smell, touch, taste, and hearing are relatively easy to isolate in the brain. They have discrete functions that rarely overlap: it’s hard to describe the taste of a sound, the color of a smell, or the scent of a feeling. But a sense of time is threaded through everything we perceive.”

Sculpted model of a fruit fly wing exhibited at the Francis Crick Institute to illustrate Marc De Gennes research on biological pattern formation.
